The Little Announces Special Talkbacks for Black History Month

On Saturday, February 9th following the 6:30 pm showing of JULY ’64, filmmakers Christine Christopher and Carvin Eison will be in the theatre to discuss three days of conflict in July 1964 that altered the course of history in Rochester. Ms. Christopher and Mr. Eison will also preview a clip from their latest production UMBRA: EMERGING FROM THE SHADOWS OF LYNCHING. The discussion will offer first-hand insight to the circumstances that lead up to the riots and ended with the National Guard being called to a Northern city for the first time during the civil rights era.

Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) Announces First Friday citywide gallery night.
(ROCHESTER, NY): Rochester Contemporary Art Center in collaboration with other local galleries will stay open late on the First Friday of each month. This initiative will showcase area artists and arts institutions by designating the First Friday evening of each month from 6-9pm as a time for experiencing and celebrating art. As a citywide event, First Friday will ensure a healthy art scene and a healthy city by instigating regular exchange and discussion between venues, artists and patrons. So far over 12 Rochester area galleries have committed to the project. First Friday will also guarantee to the public that there is one evening per month for visiting multiple galleries and one website for learning about what will be offered at each venue. http://www.firstfridayrochester.org
